General Questions/New to Joomla! 5.x • Re: How to Verify Email Address in Login Form?

You can log in by email (links below to relevant plugins), but in the registration form wouldn't you be doubling up the request for the user information - if your username field is labelled "Email" and you also have the actual "email" fields?

Do you want some sort of pre-registration authentication of a genuine email address, and if that verification fails, the registration will not succeed?

This occurs anyway when you have "Self" or "Admin" activation; the user needs to click a link either way, which would suggest email is received, read and actioned by a real person.

These extensions might help, they allow the email to be used as a username for login but not sure if they do the authentication during registration process or simply allow the email to be used in place of email for the login.
